first_img“How did you go bankrupt? Two ways. Gradually, then suddenly,” wrote Ernest Hemingway in The Sun Also Rises. This idea of things falling apart gradually, then suddenly, may also apply to the world of credit unions. For now the rumors of CUs’ deaths seem to have been greatly exaggerated. Despite all the recent talk about “digital disruption,” credit unions have survived the assault of their would-be disruptors to date. This makes one ask, has all of this talk about fintech been overhyped? Can we finally forget about chasing the latest technology and just get back to providing great service to our members?Well, yes and no.We are just in the early stages of digital disruption and things are happening fairly gradually in the near term. As Bill Gates said, “We tend to overestimate the change that will occur in the next two years, and underestimate the change that will occur in the next 10. Don’t let yourself be lulled into inaction.”The term “disruption” does not necessarily mean that the entire industry and all of its current participants will suddenly cease to exist. Disruptive innovation changes the game by creating new products, new markets and new relationships between organizations and individuals—and that is already happening. continue reading » 3SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblrlast_img read more

first_imgAlready in recent days this newspaper pointed to the advanced negotiations between Espanyol and Benfica by Raúl de Tomás, although finally, and according to the Portuguese press (SIC Portugal advanced the news), the forward will not end up at the club as a loan but on property at a rate of 20 million euros plus 2.5 in variables. A real bombshell of the winter market that will help the Spanish to get out of his battered situation in The league, with just 11 points and the bottom of the championship. Tomás has always been a desire of Espanyol, although this summer it was impossible to undertake his signing as it was transferred to Benfica for 20 million euros. Five months later, the forward has not had continuity and the Portuguese club is willing to recover the investment. At 25 years old and with projection ahead, the player fits into the profile of signings of the parakeet club with Chen Yansheng in command, as in summer it happened with young people Fernando Calero Y Matías Vargas. With From Thomas, yes, the club will launch the house through the confirmation window taking into account that it would become the most expensive signing in history, exceeding the 10.5 that were paid by Vargas this summer. The forward would reinforce a decimated attack in LaLiga. Espanyol have only scored 14 goals in 19 games and his top scorers are Bernardo Espinosa, Wu Lei, Sergi Darder Y Marc Roca With three goals. If the arrival of De Tomás is official, Abelardo Fernández wins an immediate performance forward to get out of the delicate situation that the blue and white team is going through.According SIC Portugal, Espanyol would only get 80% of the pass for these 20 million and the 2.5 variables would be paid in case the player played ten games by June 30 (one million euros), Espanyol was saved (another million) and De Tomás scored five goals (500,000 euros). It is unknown if these clauses concern only LaLiga or all competitions. 9last_img read more
