12 Unique Gifts for the Hard-to-Shop-for People… There are many different services that let you sign up to get an email alert when your favorite band is coming to town, but UK-born SongKick keeps innovating and keeps finding more support for its efforts. A 2007 graduate of tech incubator program YCombinator, SongKick has raised $1.8 million in its 4th round of funding, according to an SEC filing posted online tonight.SongKick lets users collaborate to create a shared memory of all the live music shows they’ve attended, complete with multimedia and set lists. The company has said it wants to build something like IMDB for the musical history of musicians. Beyond alerts, ticket sales and a historical resource, SongKick’s biggest ticket to success has probably been its Application Programming Interface, which allows other partner websites to automatically display upcoming concert dates on artist pages. The biggest partner? Music industry approved YouTube sister-site Vevo, which started using SongKick to power its concert listings this summer. BandsInTown.com is often discussed as a SongKick competitor and offers an API as well as a Facebook app. Looking at that site’s design, though, makes me wonder whether it’s been acquired by SongKick, whether there’s a lazy web designer jumping from music company to music company, or some other explanation for the two sites to look remarkably similar. 5 Outdoor Activities for Beating Office Burnout Related Posts 4 Keys to a Kid-Safe App

The circumstances of this period in the club, we need to be strong and we cannot complain.“It’s not easy to get to Wembley on public transport, it’s not easy.“Our fans tried to raise the atmosphere but in a 90,000 stadium we’re limited to 51,000. We had 45,000.“That is why when I was asked before, ‘Do you want to move into our new stadium as soon as it is ready?'”I said ‘Of course, as soon as possible,’ because it’s going to be a massive boost for the team. Twitter/@Bogs4NYLaremy Tunsil may be lucky that this year’s draft is in Chicago, and not New York City. An overzealous former prosecutor may have hopped state lines to bring him in after a hacker posted an old video of him smoking a bong out of a gas mask to his Twitter account.New Jersey Governor and former presidential candidate Chris Christie joined WFAN’s Boomer & Carton on Friday morning to discuss the draft, and spent a lot of time expressing his bemusement about the Tunsil situation. At one point, the former New Jersey Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer said that if he were still a prosecutor, he would have “gone in and cuffed” the Ole Miss offensive tackle. Buzzfeed’s Christopher Massie transcribed some of the more interesting parts of the appearance:“It’s unbelievable,” Christie said. “Because the bong hits aren’t enough. Give me the gas mask too. It’s incredible. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s unbelievable.”Earlier in the interview, Christie, who opposes marijuana legalization, said, “When I was a prosecutor, I would’ve gone in and cuffed this guy,” adding, “I would’ve been all over it.”Christie also expressed sympathy towards Tunsil, saying, “Poor kid in that respect. I mean, he did it. But who’s the guy that hates him enough that they had access to the video and put it on. I mean, wow.”Here is the full interview: [Buzzfeed]

Doha: India’s Avinash Sable qualified for the men’s 3000m steeplechase finals under dramatic circumstances while Annu Rani failed to repeat her impressive qualifying round form to finish eighth in the women’s javelin throw in the World Athletics Championships here. The 25-year-old from Mandwa in Maharashtra thus became the first Indian man to reach the finals of a track event in the World Championships. Avinash initially failed to qualify for the finals despite bettering his own national record in an eventful first round heat but was later included among the men’s 3000m steeplechase finalists after the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) successfully protested that he was obstructed by other athletes during the race on Tuesday. He was involved in two incidents during the race that blocked his path and thereby slowing him down for no fault of his. The AFI later filed an appeal, claiming that Avinash was obstructed by other athletes during the race, with the request that he be advanced to the final round. Also Read – Djokovic to debut against Shapovalov at Shanghai Masters One hour later, the race referee, after examining video footages, agreed that Avinash was significantly obstructed on two occasions. India’s protest was accepted and under Rule 163.2 (Obstruction), Avinash was included for the final to be held on Friday. “We filed an appeal and we have got a favourable decision. So, Avinash will be in the final. He has been included among the finalists,” AFI Planning Commission Chairman Lalit Bhanot told PTI. There was no change in Avinash’s position but he has been added as the 16th competitor for the final race. The top three in each of the three heats and the next six fastest qualify for the final race. Both the incidents were triggered by reigning junior world champion Takele Nigate of Ethiopia. In the first, Avinash had to jump over another competitor as four-five athletes at the rear fell over each other. Midway during the race, Nigate bumped into an obstacle just in front of Sable. The Indian had to virtually climb up the obstacle as he was blocked by the Ethiopian, thereby losing crucial time. Despite slowing down due to the two incidents, Avinash ran more than three seconds better than his earlier national record of 8:28.94 which he had clocked in March this year during the Federation Cup. Annu, who on Monday smashed her own national record with a 62.43m throw, could only produce a best of 61.12m in the final round competition. Competing after Avinash, the 27-year-old Annu opened with a 59.25m before coming up with efforts of 61.12m and 60.20m, which put her among the top eight after three attempts and gave her three more throws. However, she could not improve upon her second round effort of 61.12m, coming up with 60.40m, 58.49m and 57.93m, to finish at eighth out of the 12 finalists. 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medallist Kelsey Lee Barber of Australia won the gold with a final round throw of 66.56m while the Chinese duo of Asian Games champion Liu Shiying and Asian champion Lyu Huihui took the silver and bronze with efforts of 65.88m and 65.49m respectively. Annu, who belongs to badal village from near Meerut will, however, held her head high as she had become the first Indian woman to reach the javelin throw final in the World Championships. “I have some technical faults and I will work on them and hopefully will do better. I am yet to qualify for the Olympic Games. I hope to make amends of my technical problems and qualify for the Olympics for which I have to throw 64m,” Annu said after her event. “The training in Europe helped me a lot, especially the stint in Czech Republic where I got a lot of chance to compete with top throwers and I got a lot of experience from there. Training under Uwe Hohn also helped in learning a lot,” she added. “I want to do well for the country and my ultimate dream is an Olympic medal.” Annu had failed to qualify for the finals in the last edition in 2017 in London where she had come up with a best throw of 59.93m to finish 20th overall in the qualification round.
Paris: Serge Gnabry scored four second-half goals as Bayern Munich came from behind to hand last season’s runners-up Tottenham Hotspur a stunning 7-2 home defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday after Real Madrid escaped with a 2-2 draw against Club Brugge. There were routine wins for Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid, while Cristiano Ronaldo netted in a comfortable Juventus victory, but most of the drama was in north London. Also Read – We will push hard for Kabaddi”s inclusion in 2024 Olympics: Rijiju The evening started well for Spurs as Son Heung-min fired across Manuel Neuer and into the far corner to give Mauricio Pochettino’s team the lead against Bayern. However, the German champions came roaring back to leave Spurs on the receiving end of the biggest ever home defeat for an English team in Europe. It was the first time they had ever conceded seven goals in a home game. Two super strikes from Joshua Kimmich and Robert Lewandowski had Bayern ahead at the break and Gnabry, the former Arsenal winger, then scored two goals two minutes apart to make it four early in the second half. Also Read – Djokovic to debut against Shapovalov at Shanghai Masters Harry Kane reduced the arrears from the penalty spot, but Gnabry ran through to complete his hat-trick on 83 minutes and he smacked in the seventh goal after Lewandowski had netted his second of the evening. Gnabry is the first player to score four goals against English opposition since Lionel Messi achieved the same feat for Barcelona against Arsenal in 2010. The result means last season’s beaten finalists already face a struggle to qualify from Group B after they drew at Olympiakos in their opening game. The Greek club were beaten 3-1 at Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday despite Ruben Semedo giving them the lead as the second-half sending-off of Yassine Benzia for the visitors changed the game. Milos Vulic equalised for Red Star before late headers by Nemanja Milunovic and Richmond Boakye secured victory for the Serbian side, who go to Spurs next. Meanwhile, Manchester City beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium to make it two wins from two in Group C. Ilkay Gundogan hit the bar for Pep Guardiola’s team in the first half before Riyad Mahrez squared for Raheem Sterling to tap in the 66th-minute opener. Sterling then turned provider for Phil Foden to secure the points in stoppage time for City. – Casemiro rescues Real – ========================= In the same group, Israeli forward Manor Solomon netted the winner deep in injury time as Shakhtar Donetsk came from behind to beat Atalanta 2-1 in Milan. Duvan Zapata had given the Italian side a first-half lead after Josip Ilicic had a penalty saved, but Junior Moraes equalised for the Ukrainian champions prior to the break, before Solomon’s late heroics. In Madrid, record 13-time champions Real were 2-0 down at half-time at home to Club Brugge, for whom the Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis scored a first-half brace. But Zinedine Zidane’s team came storming back as Sergio Ramos headed in before Casemiro claimed a dramatic equaliser in the 85th minute, seconds after Ruud Vormer had been sent off for the visitors. It is a first point for Real in Group A, which is led by PSG. The French club, again missing the suspended Neymar, beat Galatasaray 1-0 in Istanbul thanks to Mauro Icardi’s second-half goal. – New Ronaldo landmark – ======================== Meanwhile, Gonzalo Higuain set Juventus on their way to a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in Turin before he set up Federico Bernardeschi to double their lead and Ronaldo completed the scoring late on. That strike means the 34-year-old Portuguese forward has now scored a Champions League goal against 33 different opponents, equalling a record set by Raul. Maurizio Sarri’s team share first place in Group D with Atletico, who ran out 2-0 winners away to Lokomotiv Moscow thanks to second-half goals by Joao Felix and Thomas Partey.
Taipei: Five bodies have been recovered from under a collapsed bridge in Taiwan, rescuers said Wednesday, as the search continued for the last person missing after the structure smashed onto fishing boats moored underneath. Taiwan’s National Fire Agency said the deceased were fishing workers from Indonesia and the Philippines whose bodies were found in waters near two damaged boats late Tuesday and earlier Wednesday. “The search and rescue mission continues,” transport minister Lin Chia-lung told reporters, adding evidence was being collected for an investigation. The ministry pledged assistance to the affected workers and their families. Dramatic CCTV footage captured the moment the 140-metre (460-foot) long single-arch bridge came crashing down early on Tuesday morning in Nanfangao, on Taiwan’s east coast. In the video, a vertical cable at the centre of the bridge’s steel arch suddenly snaps. The road then collapses into the water, crashing down on three fishing boats as a petrol tanker, which nearly made it across, also plunged into the water. Also Read – Iraq military admits ‘excessive force’ used in deadly protestsTwelve people were injured, including six Filipino and three Indonesian fishing workers, the Taiwanese driver of the petrol tanker, and two coastguard personnel. The petrol tanker burst into flames at some point after it hit the water, sending a thick plume of black smoke into the air. The local landmark was completed in 1998 and spanned a small fishing port. It was featured in a number of TV dramas and commercials. Taiwan was skirted by a typhoon on Monday night, which brought heavy rains and strong winds to parts of the east coast. But at the time of the bridge collapse, the weather was fine. Taiwan has a huge fishing industry and many of those who work on its boats are low-paid migrant workers from countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. Previous serious bridge incidents in Taiwan have mostly been related to typhoons.
